The Sejong Language Center is Sejong University’s affiliated language education institution dedicated to enhancing Korean-language proficiency among international learners through a systematic curriculum and comprehensive academic support. The institute also plays an important role in promoting the global reach of the Korean language. We spoke with the Sejong Language Center to learn more about its role in nurturing global talent both on and off campus.
Please introduce the Sejong Language Center.
The Sejong Language Center is a professional Korean-language education institution affiliated with Sejong University. It was established to inherit and further develop the spirit behind King Sejong’s creation of Hunminjeongeum.
Drawing on the university’s long-standing achievements in language education and humanities research, the institute provides practical instruction that enables international learners to immediately apply their Korean-language skills in both everyday life and academic settings. Today, it has established an international learning environment where students from diverse countries study and interact together, serving as a key institution in the university’s internationalization efforts.
What regular online and offline programs are currently offered by the Sejong Language Center?
The institute offers a variety of regular programs tailored to different learning objectives and proficiency levels. Its offline courses are organized from beginner to advanced levels and are designed to help students develop balanced skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. In addition, online regular courses are offered alongside in-person programs, allowing overseas learners and those with time or location constraints to experience the same curriculum through live online classes.
We understand that the institute also offers cultural experience programs in addition to regular language courses. What kinds of activities are available?
Experiential programs that allow students to engage directly with Korean culture are an essential part of the institute’s educational curriculum. The institute regularly offers activities such as hanbok experiences, traditional crafts, Korean cooking classes, K-pop and traditional music experiences, and visits to major cultural and historical sites. Through these hands-on programs, learners can apply the language skills acquired in the classroom to real-life situations, naturally deepening their understanding of Korean society and culture.

Are there any new programs, special lectures, or camps available this semester or during the upcoming vacation period?
The Korean Language and Korean Culture Camp, offered during both summer and winter breaks, is one of the institute’s signature programs. It offers an ideal opportunity to rapidly improve Korean-language proficiency while building meaningful cultural connections in a relatively short period of time.
