Sejong University Ranks 3rd in Korea for Second Consecutive Year in the 2025–2026 US News Best Global Universities Rankings

Sejong University (President: Eom Jong-hwa) has once again demonstrated its top-tier research competitiveness by ranking 3rd in Korea for the second consecutive year and 238th globally in the 2025–2026 Best Global Universities Rankings released by the renowned evaluation agency, US News & World Report.
This year’s rankings evaluated 2,250 universities worldwide based on 13 indicators, including global research reputation, regional research reputation, number of publications, number of books, number of conferences, normalized citation impact, total citations, number and proportion of publications in the top 10% most cited, international collaboration relative to country, overall international collaboration, and the number and proportion of publications in the top 1% most cited.
In Korea, Sejong University maintained its solid position at 3rd place following Seoul National University and Yonsei University for the second year in a row. Globally, the university rose three places from last year, reaching 238th and continuing its steady upward trend.
In this year’s assessment, Sejong University ranked 20th globally in international collaboration relative to country, 38th in the proportion of papers in the top 10% most cited, and 89th in the proportion of papers in the top 1% most cited, proving the global quality and impact of its research.
In terms of subject-specific rankings, Sejong also demonstrated strong international competitiveness, ranking 35th globally in Water Resources, 51st in Mathematics, 70th in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and 99th in Artificial Intelligence.
Sejong University’s global competitiveness is also reflected in other international university rankings.
In the 2025 THE World University Rankings released by the UK-based Times Higher Education, Sejong University was ranked 7th in Korea and placed within the 200–251 range globally.
In the 2024 Leiden Ranking, which assesses global universities based on the quality of their academic papers, Sejong ranked 1st in Korea for the second consecutive year and 223rd globally.

US News & World Report, a prestigious U.S. weekly magazine that began ranking U.S. colleges and graduate schools in 1983, annually publishes global university rankings based on research performance and academic reputation.
This ranking is especially valued for its focus on evaluating the global competitiveness of research-oriented universities and is highly trusted in the international academic community.
