The 1st Sejong University President’s Cup Pan-America Taekwondo Championship, hosted by Sejong University and organized by the North America Alumni Association of the Department of Taekwondo, Graduate School of Industry, will be held on October 11 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

This championship has been prepared to promote international exchanges at Sejong University, enhance its global status, and strengthen the alumni network of the Taekwondo major. Furthermore, it is designed to contribute to the worldwide spread of Taekwondo, as well as to encourage交流, growth, and networking among Taekwondo practitioners in the Americas. The event is expected to raise Sejong University’s profile in the local community and provide participating athletes with valuable opportunities to build international competitiveness on a global stage.

Participants will include youth and adult Taekwondo trainees, instructors, and alumni from across the United States, who will compete in various categories such as poomsae and breaking. In addition, side events—including Taekwondo demonstration performances, K-Culture exchange programs, and a Sejong University promotional booth—will offer meaningful experiences to both athletes and spectators.

President Eom Jong-hwa of Sejong University said, “This championship is a valuable event that expands the foundation of Taekwondo and promotes cultural exchange between Korea and the United States. I hope that through this event, Taekwondo can contribute to the health and character education of youth around the world.”

Hong Soon-woo, President of the North America Alumni Association of the Department of Taekwondo at the Graduate School of Industry, stated, “It is an honor to host a Pan-America Taekwondo Championship in the name of our alma mater. I will continue to do my best to contribute to Sejong University through Taekwondo and to foster harmony among alumni.”

Professor Kang Deok-mo of the Department of Sports Industry, Graduate School of Industry, added, “This championship in Boston will serve as an opportunity to reaffirm Sejong University’s global status. Moving forward, we will strive to further promote the university by working closely with Taekwondo alumni in the United States and Europe.”
