Students from the Department of Fashion Design achieved remarkable results at the International Fashion Illustration Competition hosted by the Korea Fashion Illustration Association on December 9, earning a total of 22 awards and demonstrating exceptional design capabilities.

The International Fashion Illustration Competition is an international contest that comprehensively evaluates creativity, formative aesthetics, and expressive completeness in the field of fashion illustration. Each year, students and emerging designers from Korea and abroad participate, making the competition a platform that highlights trends in the fashion industry and visual arts. Participants are evaluated based on concept interpretation, drawing skills, color sensibility, and understanding of fashion trends.

In this year’s competition, Chae Ye-jin (Fashion Design, Class of ’24) received the Brand Award, drawing significant attention. The Brand Award recognizes works with strong practical applicability and industry relevance, underscoring the high regard her work received from professionals in the field.

Additionally, the department saw balanced achievements across all year levels, with first-, second-, and third-year students all receiving awards. The awardees are as follows:

  • Encouragement Award: Lee Jeong-ha, Lee Su-min, Choi Su-yeon, Cho Ra-on

  • Honorable Mention: Carmen Elgersma, Jeong Han-na, Lee Ha-rin, Lee Chan-ju, Shin Hye-jeong, Kim Ji-woo, Ko Hyun-ji

  • Special Selection: Ko Ga-min, Song Hee-yeon, Yoo Chae-rin, Yoon So-yeon, Lee Seo-yeon, Lee Ji-yoon, Cheon Yul, Chu So-yul, Marissa Binti Kamarulariffin

  • Brand Award: Chae Ye-jin

A total of 22 students were recognized, reaffirming the department’s strong practical training and artistic competence.

Professor Sukjin Kim, Chair of the Department of Fashion Design, stated, “Unlike other universities that often recruit students based on science or humanities tracks, Sejong University’s Fashion Design major belongs to the College of Arts, specializing in design. The fact that 22 first-, second-, and third-year students received awards in this international competition is a meaningful achievement made possible by our practice-oriented curriculum and the dedication of our students.”

Building on this success, the Department of Fashion Design plans to further strengthen its practical design education—including fashion illustration—and provide continued support to help students showcase their talents on both domestic and international stages.
