Sejong University Ranks First in South Korea for Two Consecutive Years in the '2024 Leiden Ranking' - 223rd in the World - First in International Collaboration Ratio for Five Consecutive Years
Sejong University (President Bae Deg Hyo) has ranked first in South Korea for the second consecutive year in the '2024 Leiden Ranking,' which evaluates global universities based on the quality of their research papers.
Sejong University also achieved a significant rise in the global rankings, moving up 93 places to 223rd this year. The university's global ranking has shown remarkable growth over the past five years: 592nd in 2020, 473rd in 2021, 394th in 2022, and 316th in 2023. In Asia, Sejong University climbed from 44th in 2022 and 39th in 2023 to 30th this year, marking its third consecutive year in the Top 50 in Asia.
The Leiden Ranking, published by Leiden University in the Netherlands, evaluates global universities based on the proportion of their papers that are highly cited. Unlike other global university rankings, which consider reputation, university size, and the quantity of papers, the Leiden Ranking focuses solely on citation impact, providing an objective assessment of a university's research capabilities.
