Sejong University Earns Top ‘S’ Grade for Three Consecutive Years in University Innovation Support Project Evaluation
Sejong University (President Eom Jong-hwa) has once again demonstrated its excellence in educational innovation, earning the highest S grade in the ‘Educational Innovation Performance’ category of the 2025–2027 University Innovation Support Project performance evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education. This marks the third consecutive year—following 2023 and 2024—that the university has achieved this distinction. In addition, Sejong also received the highest A grade in the ‘Self-Performance Management’ category, affirming its outstanding achievements across the entire spectrum of educational innovation.
The University Innovation Support Project is a flagship higher education funding initiative of the Ministry of Education, designed to support universities in enhancing the quality of education and fostering future talent through autonomous innovation. For the third cycle of the project (2025–2027), a total of 138 universities nationwide are participating. The evaluation is divided into two categories: ‘Educational Innovation Performance’ (grades S/A/B/C) and ‘Self-Performance Management’ (grades A/B/C).
By earning the highest ratings in both categories, Sejong University’s systematic innovation capabilities and strong performance outcomes have been formally recognized at the national level.
Building on its ‘The DigiLog Sejong’ talent development philosophy—which bridges the digital and analog worlds—Sejong University has proactively responded to rapid changes in industrial structures and society, especially in advanced sectors such as generative AI, by setting the theme of the third cycle project as ‘DigiLog AI+’ and continuously driving educational innovation.
The latest evaluation recognized Sejong’s achievements in:
Expanding major selection opportunities based on students’ career aspirations
Establishing systematic implementation plans to support students under the Major Autonomy Selection System
Maintaining high-quality liberal arts education
Introducing and operating the JA Faculty System
Implementing flexible academic operations with strategic foresight
Additionally, the university’s governance structure—which collects and incorporates diverse opinions from faculty, staff, students, and committees through a middle-up-down decision-making process—was praised for its effectiveness in institutional operations.
Kim Hee-yeon, Director of Sejong University’s Office of Educational Innovation, stated:
“Achieving the S grade in educational innovation is the result of Sejong’s consistent and dedicated efforts toward reform. Moving forward, we will continue to enhance the autonomy and accountability of financial management in line with the Ministry of Education’s higher education policies, and strengthen the university’s competitiveness through future-oriented educational innovations such as AI talent cultivation.”
